Pilates For Pregnancy

And Postnatal Pilates

Private 1:2:1 Pregnancy Pilates Classes

PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC I AM UNABLE TO OFFER PRIVATE CLASSES. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR INFORMATION ON WHAT I USUALLY OFFER. I HOPE TO RESUME NORMAL SERVICES ONCE IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

Pilates for pregnancy is recommended by NCT and the NHS.

It is an excellent way to exercise during and after pregnancy.

I offer bespoke 1:2:1 classes as home/workplace visits which focus on the following:

Pregnancy Pilates in the comfort of your own home.

  • Correct pelvic floor work for core stability, labour & delivery. This is an essential part of your routine from early pregnancy onwards & is not taught by Midwives until much later.

  • Posture: Maintaining a healthy spine throughout.

  • Shoulder placement work: For any shoulder tension & the pressure of growing breasts.

  • Balance: to keep on top of the changes in neural pathways.

  • Circulation of the ankles, feet and lower leg.

Private 1:2:1 Postnatal Pilates Classes*

Postnatal classes focus on the following:

  • Gradual re-education of the core muscles & toning.

  • Pelvic floor work to recover and restore the muscles post-birth.

  • Shoulder & upper back release

  • Toning of arms, legs and glutes.

“Susanna taught us how to do pelvic floor exercises correctly which was great as I didn’t really know anything about them before!” Cathy.

* I advise a 6 week period post-birth before beginning Pilates if you have had a relatively normal delivery. If stitches were used, then up to 8 weeks depending on healing time. If you have had a Caesarean Section, i’d advise waiting up to 12 weeks, but please contact me to talk it through.
